Creating a new Finger-Ink account, or joining an existing Finger-Ink account is the same process from the iPad app, but differs on the web.


From the iPad app

⚠️ You must be an administrator or power receptionist in Cliniko to enter an API key into this first screen — additional practitioner API keys can be added later.

To create a new, or connect to an existing Finger-Ink account:

  1. Download and install Finger-Ink for Cliniko from the App Store.

  2. Generate a new API key from Cliniko (call it something like "Finger-Ink iPad").

  3. Copy this API key (you can't see it again once you navigate away from that page) and paste it into the box provided on the iPad.

  4. Tap the "next" button when it comes up.

  5. If you agree to our our terms & privacy policy, and tap the grey button, then tap the next to proceed.

  6. You're in! Messages within the iPad app will guide you through the rest of the setup process.

From the web (creating an account)

  1. Generate a new API key from Cliniko (call it something like "Finger-Ink Web").

  2. Visit our sign-up page.

  3. Enter your API key into the box provided.

  4. If you agree to our our terms & privacy policy, check the box.

  5. Click the "start free trial" button.

  6. Set a password when prompted.

  7. You're in! Messages from our chat bubble will pop up to familiarise you with the portal.


From the web (joining an existing account)

  1. Generate a new API key from Cliniko (call it something like "Finger-Ink Web").

  2. Visit our sign-in with an API key page.

  3. Enter your API key into the box provided.

  4. Click the "next" button.

  5. Set a password when prompted.

  6. You're in!


☝️ You can create as many API keys as you like through Cliniko — they'll all connect to the same Finger-Ink and Cliniko account.
