Finger-Ink has always had its very own purpose-built iPad app. It provides best-in-class Forms in-clinic for those that haven't yet completed their "paperwork".

It also provides Kiosk mode for Check-in: buy yourself a nice stand with a lock, plug in the iPad to keep it charged, and give your admin staff more time for more valuable tasks.

☝️ Only iPads running iPadOS 15.5 or later can run the Finger-Ink app. Check the list of compatible devices before purchasing.

Once you've downloaded the app from the App Store, you'll want to connect it to your account. The easiest way to do this is to connect using the Portal.

Connect with the Portal

When you first launch the iPad app, you're confronted with a choice — connect using the Finger-Ink Portal or with an API key. Choose "using the Finger-Ink Portal":

The next screen instructs you to use a different device (like a laptop) to access the Portal.

☝️ It's important to use a different device to the iPad currently running the Finger-Ink app to access the Portal. Because in the next step you'll be pointing the iPad camera, while still in the Finger-Ink app, at the QR code on screen.

Once you're in: visit the iPads screen, and click the connect an iPad button to show a QR code on screen, like this:

With that QR code still on screen, use the Finger-Ink iPad app to scan this QR code by pointing the rear camera at the device with the QR code on screen. When the QR code registers in the app it will connect immediately.

Here's what that looks like on a real device:

Change the default passcode

The default Administration Area passcode for the Finger-Ink app is 4 3 2 1. This should be changed as soon as possible in the Settings Screen:

☝️ Take care to remember your passcode as it's stored local to the iPad. It cannot be recovered if you forget. That said, you can always delete the app and re-install it from the App Store to reset it.
